Fostering Care is excited to announce our collaboration with The Regenesis Project
The Regenesis Project: Independent, Dedicated, Fearless and Efficient
Fostering Care: Our Next Mission
We are now connected with Fostering Care through their founder, Angela Featherstone. We believe that we can apply our research site and skillset along with our advanced neuroimaging techniques to enhance and enrich the findings of her multi-system program for foster youth.
Fostering Care has developed a world-class, multi-faceted support program for youth transitioning out of the foster system to address their physical, psychological, and socio-economic health needs and development. The Regenesis Project, in partnership with Fostering Care, has developed a research protocol to validate the clinical benefit of this program among its participants using advanced MRI and other health outcome measures.Using functional MRI (fMRI) allows for the detection of changes in brain function associated with the multi-system intervention. fMRI can provide insights into how the intervention impacts brain regions involved in stress regulation, emotional processing, and cognitive function, thereby elucidating the neurobiological mechanisms underlying the observed improvements.
Our 3-month, open-label interventional study is designed to assess the impact of FosteringCare’s structured, multi-system therapeutic intervention among at least 30 participants. The potential positive impact of offering support during this critical transition period includes improved health outcomes, reduced psychological distress, and better preparation for independent living.
In addition to the benefits for the individual participants, this study has the potential to providevaluable data on the cost-effectiveness of a multi-system intervention. This holistic approachcould serve as a model for other foster care systems, highlighting the importance of comprehensive care for vulnerable populations. By reducing healthcare utilization and improving socio-economic outcomes, the Fostering Care model could lead to significant cost savings for healthcare systems and government agencies. The data generated from this study could support health economics and outcome research, providing evidence for policymakers to allocate resources towards comprehensive support programs for individuals transitioning out of foster care.
- Cost Savings: Improved health outcomes and reduced need for emergency services, hospitalizations, and mental health interventions can result in substantial cost savings.
- Economic Productivity: By helping individuals secure stable employment, the intervention can increase economic productivity and reduce dependency on social welfare programs.- Policy Change: The study’s findings could provide a strong evidence base for advocating policy changes that prioritize comprehensive support for foster care youth, potentially leading to systemic improvements and better long-term outcomes.

ABOUT FOSTERING CARE:
Fostering Care is a 3-month trauma-healing intensive where youth ages 18-21 who are “aging out” of foster care receive daily healing therapies that treat trauma, strengthen immune and neurological systems, as well as fortify self-esteem and the corporeal. When completed, participants will also earn a California State Certified teaching certificate in a healing trade - enabling them to continue the healing process in the community. Our mission is to restore well-being and economic stability to the 500,000+ children in U.S. foster care by creating true opportunities for them to prosper.
